the other in green. They operate but medium condition.
Nº 675: A musical cigar dispenser, in natural wood.
Nº 676: A musical china coockies plate and a Napoléon
III cigar dispenser (small parts missing). Blocked movements. Ca 1900.
Nº 677: A nice serinette Walnut case 28 cm (small accidents). C shaped handle. 8 tunes with handwritten tunesheet (En passant par la Syrie, Bataille de Solférino, etc.). 10 metal pipes. 3d quarter of the XIXth c. Bellows restored, but need further attention, otherwise good general condition. Nº 678 : A very fine "boîte à musique de gare"
(for a train station) with 3 dancing dolls, 6 bells and a drum Glazed case
with coin operation. 70x70x41 cm. Winding of the double spring barrel through
a handle. Tunesheet of the 8 tunes, tune indicator, parachute, nickel plated
12 pouces (33 cm) cylinder. Fine sound. Only one broken tip, needs some
dust cleaning and adjusting of the coin operation and the tune stop. Swiss,
end of the XIXth c. Rare in this very good original condition.
Nº 679 : A Perroquette as a small parlour barrel organ Walnut case with feet, front with half columns on each side (small accidents). 47x42x34 cm. Indication "??? et Fric Clément à Mirecourt" on the only present 28 cm, 10 tunes cylinder. Tunesheet for 3 cylindres, difficult to read and reglued. 3 stops of 11 keys (complete but many battered metal pipes). XIXth c . A curious instrument, restoration needs to be completed. Nº 680: A good musical clock picture In a gilt frame 82x99
cm. Country scenery with church, house, cows, etc. Clockwork movement (square
bedplate, unverified) with hour striking and Angelus on gongs. Repainted
dial, minute hand missing. With a very good 2 tunes snuffbox type musical
movement, with old handwritten tunesheet (barely lisible) "F. Villemsena
à Paris" and "... fiancée", "quadrille". End of XIXth c.
Beautiful sound, good condition, complete (excepted pendulum).
Nº 681: A 26 keys organette to restore, with a book fragment.
Nº 682 : A rare 17 keys organette Dark lacquered case 26x38x30
cm. Handle. Only one cardboard book (width 17,5 cm). Ca 1900, unknown maker.
Good apparent condition, but needs revision (bad driving of the book).
Nº 683 : A fine vertical 48,5 cm disc Symphonion musical
box Sculpted wooden case height 117 cm (+ top 38 cm). Width. 80 cm Depht.
45 cm. Coin operated. Two diametrically opposite combs with 53 teeth each.
Germany, end of the XIXth c. With 20 discs. In very good condition, works
well with a fine sound.
Nº 684 : A good 4 tunes musical movement by Mermod 17 cm Nickel plated cylinder with parachute and tune indicator. Winding through a handle. 32 cm long bedplate. Stop and tune changing needs adjustment. Good sound. Ca 1900. In a modern 41 cm case. Nº 685 : A rare and very fine Gavioli Meloton 48 keys portable
reed organ. Wooden case with brass stringing, and a woodcut facade to allow
the sound to escape. (Split to the lid). Height. 64 cm, width. 81, depht
38 cm. Several inscriptions, on the front : "Meloton Gavioli et Cie, Rue
de Citeaux, 3, Paris" with the mention "Réparé par A. Gasparini,
Rue de la Vega Paris, 17 et 19", and on the lid : "Jles (?) Thomas père
et fils, Paris". One cylinder is lightly stamped in red : Gasparini, 2,
av. de Taillebourg. Tunesheet inside the lid, and on each cylinder (with
a Gasparini mention). 47 keys for the notes and 1 key probably for the
expression. With four 8 tunes cylinders (very small splits at the end)
long. 62 cm diam 26 cm, in their boxes (one simple, one double), 3 "à
crans" and one "en hélice". Programm : Offenbach, Verdi, etc. but
especially many pieces signed "A. Gavioli". (Probably Anselme (1828-1902)
: members of the Gavioli family were good musicians). Very good general
condition, but bellows (not seen because it would have needed dismantling)
need attention. A rare instrument for collectors, in good original condition
(end of the XIXth c.) : the "repairs" by Gasparini do not seem later than
the 1900's.
Nº 686 : An excellent 4 tunes keywound Lecoultre cylinder
box Simple case (51x22x14cm) with stringing decoration and a small inlay
of musical instruments on the lid (two very small wooden side parts of
the lid and inner inside glass missing). Gamme 3792, No 22178 on handwritten
tunesheet and under the box. BBC LF on the comb. Keywound, 3 commands protected
by sidelid. Tune sheet "mandoline", mandoline effect (teeth by 7). 33 cm
cylinder. Piccolo effect on the 2d tune. Plays : "La Norma Ah belle Ame
- Das Lebenen Tanz Walzer - Oh mon Fernand, de la Favorite - Mon arrêt
descend, de la Favorite". Ca 1850/60. Damper noises. Very beautiful notation
and sound.
Nº 687: A fine 20 keys cylinder barrel organ, by Max Andreas.
Maker in Darwig bei Erfurt (Allemagne). Simple case 53x30 cm. Height 56
cm. On an old style cart (4 iron wheels), long. 80 cm. 8 tunes tunesheet
(Valses, Polkas, Marches). Cyl. 38 cm. 20 keys. Two sets of wooden pipes
: one on the front (partly open, partly stopped) and another set with stopped
pipes under the case. Beginning of the XXth c ? Small restorations. Good
general condition and playing (needs small tuning). A fine old style organ
!
Nº 688: A beautiful picture clock Gilt frame 80x102 cm,
landscape with a lake, mountains and characters (small accident to the
canvas). Square clockwork bedplate (unverified movement) with pendulum,
hour striking and Angelus. Complete and in good general condition.
Nº 689 : A fine rare and large musical "cuckoo" clock, with
a remarquable case sculpted with foliage, animals and a hunting horn (a
few elements need refixing). Height 90 cm, width 50 cm. Weight driven clockwork
with chiming on gongs (weights missing). Through two doors in the front
appear either a bird (restorations ?) or a painted seated character. Two
pipes, and (rare) a 45 teeth 4 tunes 9 cm cyl. musical movement. A few
restorations (pipes), otherwise complete and in good general condition.
Needs cleaning and adjusting. Probably Black Forest production, end of
the XIXth c.
Nº 690: A fine small Spanish barrel piano On a cart, by
Vicente Linares in Barcelona. Height 57, Lenght 60, Width 33 With the cart,
lenght 1,31 m. Handle. 36 keys (of which 2 woodblocks and 2 for the triangle).
6 tunes with tunesheet. Good general condition. Ca mid XXth c.
Nº 691: A good Kalliope 23 cm disc music box Sculpted wooden
case (needs some cleaning) 33x33x17 cm. Central handle winding. One 48
teeth comb. End of XIXth c. Very good condition and sound. With ca 39 discs.
Nº 692: A fine 10 tunes Perroquette with 3 cylinders Walnut case, 28x39x28 cm. Handwritten tunesheet (Walzes, polka, etc.). 3 stops at will, with each 10 metal pipes, of which one stopped set. All cylinders in good condition, two are in a spare box. Unsigned (probably Mirecourt). End of XIXth c. Good condition. It works, but the playing might be improved. Nº 693: Interesting salon organ by Dumont-Parizot, 20 keys,
4 cylinders. Beautiful walnut cabinet, façade of half-columns. 90x60x40
cm. Beautiful hand-crank in the shape of a 'C'. Handwritten tune sheet
signed "Dumont Parizot, craftsman of Mirecourt." 3 pipe registers
controlled at will, one stoppered and two partially stoppered. 4
old cylinders (43 cm, 3 helical, one notched) plus a recent cylinder (notated
in long notes, and curiously partly helical and partly notched). Boxes
for the cylinders (one new, one old with attrition). Overtures "Caliph
of Baghdad", "Young Henry", "The Caravan", and "Mass by Dumont". 1st half
of the 19th century. All in beautiful condition, plays perfectly. Around
1830.
Nº 694: Brémond, A large 12 tunes musical box Case
with boxwood stringing decoration and inlay (some worm damage on the front)
70x25 cm height. 17 cm. Large tunesheet (classical programm). 44 cm cylinder,
good condition and sound, but 6 broken teeth and needs cleaning. From the
number 14081 inscribed on the tunesheet and under the box, M. Bulleid's
tables show the year 1868 ("Tunesheets", a MBSGB publication).
Nº 695: A 8 tunes musical box Simple case 46 cm. "APC" on
the governor. Leverwound. 23 cm brass cylinder. End of the XIXth c. 3 broken
teeth, otherwise good playing and sound. Needs cleaning and restoration.
Nº 696: A fine 24 keys Ariston In good condition and plays
well. Ca 1900. With 5 cardboard discs (Quadrille des lanciers).
Nº 697: A fine large cupboard shaped barrel piano made by
"Maison Théophas Tricart à Saint Amand les Eaux", 46 cm cylinder,
10 tunes with tunesheet. Works manually or electrically. 39 keys. Fine
upholstery. H. 1 m 80. L. 1 m 20. P. 70 cm. Good condition and sound.
Nº 698: A rare, large and fine 36 keys Ariston German organette
end of XIXth c., black case with small columns at the angles and gilt stringing
decoration (two feet need refixing, two lacking) 55x55x30 cm. Very good
general condition, but needs a revision (a few notes blocked). With a fine
programm on 20 discs in perfect condition.
Nº 699: A small handle operated Spanish barrel piano by
Pombia in Barcelona, 12 tunes, (need tuning). H. 1 m 05. L. 90 cm. Metal
frame. Good condition. The endless screw has been remade.
Nº 700: Harmonipan Hofbauer, a very fine modern portable
organ with microbox system Fine varnished case with a rich decoration depicting
an inlay of musical instruments. Height 69, width 55, depht 37 cm. Turning
the handle activates the bellows which give air to 3 rows of visible pipes
: 15 metal opened piccolos, 15 metal stopped piccolos, and many wooden
bass pipes under the case. A piccolo stop on the side. We did not dismantle
this organ, so we do not know exactly the number of keys ; probably 20,
perhaps more. The 8 tapes of 10 tunes each are linked permanently, with
immediate selection of any of the 80 available tunes (varied programm,
with some French tunes). Works with 220 V or inside battery. In excellent
condition of presentation and playing. Ca 1980/90's. On an old fashionned
cart, long 95 cm with 4 spoked wooden wheels. Hofbauer is a well known
maker in Göttingen (Germany). His microbox system met a large success.
Nº 701 : A rare and large musical picture clock, depicting
probably Bonaparte at the Arcole bridge, (A legendary battle on nov. 15th
1796). In a gilt frame 97x124 cm (needs cleaning). A fine picture (small
accidents) of a revolutionnary battle to control a bridge. Clockwork movement
(needs restoration) with hour striking on gongs and Angelus. 6 tunes 21
cm cyl. musical movement, 3 levers, needing restoration (rust, some bent
pins). Ca 1870.
Nº 702: Pianola : a 65 notes push-up to be placed in front of a piano. Themodist system (ca 1900). Walnut upholstery 92x116x40 cm. Good original general condition (a few pipes changed, 1 treble "hammer" missing). Needs cleaning and restoration. With 12 cardboard cases of 65 notes rolls (ca 300 to 400 rolls). Nº 703: A Serinette, end of XIXth c. Walnut case 26 cm.
Tunesheet of the 8 airs. 10 metal pipes. Completely restored, good condition.
Nº 704: A 6 tunes cylinder organette Varnished case 42x27
cm. Height 30 cm. Handle. Sold by "Cauderes à Bordeaux". End of
the XIXth c. Completely restored (some parts remade). With an old glued
tunesheet (Vie parisienne, Giroflé, etc...). Not examined inside.
Playing needs improving.
Nº 705: A 4 stops cylinder Orgue de salon Fine case with
side columns (twisted lid, some splits to the mahoganny veneer). 113 x
72 x 46 cm. Fine inverted C shaped handle. Tune sheet for 5 cylinders (only
one present : No 3 with 5 walzes and 5 romances). 55 cm cylinder. 4 stops
of metal pipes, partly opened, partly stopped, with 2 wooden bass pipes
under. Extensively restored, many adjustments need attention. Tune changing
devices need to be remade. XIXth c.

Nº 706: Ariston, a 24 keys organette, simple action with
10 discs. Good general condition, but needs attention (bellows ?).
Nº 707: A 6 tunes musical movement to restore 15 damaged
teeth. Cyl 27,5 cm. In an old case with inlay 56 cm.
Nº 708: A wooden musical alarm clock Height 42 cm. Good
condition, good 2 tunes music, but clockwork needs revision.
Nº 709: A 12 tunes Soualle musical box movement (33cm) six
broken teeth, and tips missing, with comb stamped Soualle, in a case with
inlay.
Nº 710: A 6 tunes musical box Case 32,5 cm, Leverwound,
tunesheet, cyl. 13 cm. To restore.
Nº 711: A lot of small Lador movements condition as new,

Nº 731: Chien type Teckel (a dog) A dog with body in flocked carboard, with battery operated motor, moving with two metal wheels which activate the fore legs. L. 42cm Nº 732: Bouledogue à tête en carton mobile
(a dog) A bulldog with a carboard moving head, and mouth opening when pulling
the chain, and barking. Flocked plastic body, on wooden wheels (a repair
to the fore left tight ?). The "Etablissements Convert" realized the plastic
bodies of such animals.
Nº 733: Militaire à cheval (A soldier on a horse)
A fine end of the XIXth c. toy to be pulled on, closed mouth bisque head,
fixed blue eyes. It rotates its head and salutes. Good condition (excepted
the missing ears of the horse). Sounding mechanism. L. 32 cm - H. 48 cm
Nº 734: "Enfant sur patinette" (a child on a scooter) A

made, German open mouth bisque head, original clothes and condition (slightly
faded). In working order. Beginning of the XXth c. Height 33cm.
Nº 736: G. Vichy, "L'espagnole au tambourin" (A Spanish
woman with a hand-drum) A fine mechanical toy on three wheels, turning
head, bisque shoulders, arms and hands, fine original silk clothes, marked
G. Vichy on the bedplate (unhooked spring). End of the XIXth c. H 34cm
Nº 737: Vichy, jeune femme à l'ombrelle (a young woman with a parasol) seated on a tree trunk. A charming Gaultier bisque head automaton, bisque hands, with original clothing, original tree patina. Motor needs a repair. End of the XIXth c. Height 37cm Nº 738: "Duo comique" A rare sand automaton depicting two
musician monkeys : Sithouth, colored lithographed. Fine condition, in working
order (the external sheathing has been redone). See Chapuis et Droz p 156.

Nº 739: Gustave Vichy, "Le Pierrot écrivain" (Pierrot
writing) Famous automaton from this Parisian firm. The present item is
in fine original condition, notwithstanding a few restorations (the lamp
and its interior mechanism is not original, as the chair, the table, the
clothes, the text on the table). The movement is so described in the Vichy
catalog : "il termine sa correspondance à la lueur de sa lampe,
mais il finit pas s'endormir et la lampe s'éteint ; il s'éveille
et s'aperçoit qu'il n'a plus de lumière. Il allonge le bras
pour lever la mèche et sa lampe se rallume ; il tourne la tête,
fait mouvoir les paupières et continue d'écrire". (He is
finishing his letter under the light of the lamp. He ends up sleeping and
the lamp shades off. He wakes off and sees there is no more light. He stretches
out his arm to heighten the wick and the lamp is lighted again ; he turns
his head, moves his eyelids and goes on writing". End of the XIXth c. Height
with his hat 70 cm. Width. 53 cm. D. 35 cm.
Nº 740: Lambert, "Jeune fille au panier et à l'oiseau"
(A young girl with a basket and a bird) Closed mouth Jumeau head automaton,
blue paperweight eyes, with red stamp, taille 2 (crack under the left cheek),
bisque hands (restorations ?) fine original pale green satin clothes, fair
wig. Musical base, two movements of the head, of each arm, the left hand
holds the basket from which a bird (missing) should emerge. Height 52 cm.
Nº 741: Roullet Decamps, "Le clown aux anneaux" (A clown
with rings) A small automaton with a fine white bisque smiling character
head, blue glass eyes, original clothes, metal hands, two movements : head
and hands. Musical base. End of the XIXth c. Height 45cm.
Nº 742: Lambert, "Le petit marmiton" (The little cook) A
bisque headed German automaton, open mouth, two movements of the head,
movements of the eyes and of each arm. On a musical base, ca 1900. Good
condition. It works. Clothes and red velvet restored, key "L.B." Height
53cm
Nº 743: Vichy. "Pierrot donnant une aubade à la lune"
(Pierrot serenating the moon) This automaton is depicted in the Maison
Vichy Catalogue : "quartier de lune dont l'oeil et la bouche sont mouvementés.
Ce Pierrot est assis sur le bout du croissant et joue de la mandoline.
Au moment où la lune ouvre la bouche et remue l'oeil, le Pierrot
tourne la tête et lui tire la langue". (A quarter of the moon with
movements of the eye and the mouth. Pierrot is seated on the tip of the
crescent and plays a mandolin. At the moment the moon opens her mouth and
moves her eyes, Pierrot turns his head and show his tongue at her). Height
53cm. Music. End of the XIXth c. Good condition but external patina and
clothes restored.
Nº 744: Farkas, "Joueuse de clavecin" (A harpsichord player)
a fine bisque headed musical automaton clothed in the XVIIIth c. taste,
luxuous version, with black lacquered base with decoration of a galant
scene and bronze fixings, under a glass dome. Second half of the XXth c.
Nº 745: Marcu, "Promeneuse à l'ombrelle" (A ambulating
woman with an parasol) A fine automaton depicting a crinoline rose silk
dressed woman, on a large 3 whell socket. She moves forward in a circle,
looks on the left and the right, makes her parasol rotate and moves the
lorgnette she holds with her right arm. Smiling bisque head stamped "Marcu".
2 tunes musical movement. Second half of the XXth c. Good condition. Height
63 cm - Lenght 55 cm
Nº 746: "Vieillard à la mandoline" (An old man with
a mandoline) An original automaton depicting a mandolin player and his
dog. Movements of the head and the arms of the musician, and of the ears
and tail of the dog. A very realistic creation with a fine bisque head,
good finition of the clothes and shoes. 4 commands and good music. Mid
XXth c. Height 58 cm.
Nº 747: Automate clown dressant son chien (training his
dog) from a body and a head from the end of the XIXth c., modern mechanism
with music, movements of the left arm and the head, movement of the right
arm with the mouth and the eyes, movement of the dog's head. Needs revision.
H. 80 cm.
Nº 748: J.A.F. "Pêcheur esquimau" A fine electrical automaton depicting an esquimo with his harpoon, movements of the head, the eyes and the right arm a-fishing . On a base depicting the ice shelf. Height 75 cm - 220 volt (motor needs revision). Original condition. Nº 749: J.A.F. "Paysan tonkinois revenant du marché"
(A Tonkenese peasant coming back from the market) A fine electrical automaton,
movements of the head and the arms, mechanism in the body. Height 66cm
- 220 volts. Original condition.
Nº 750: J.A.F. "Incoyable" A fine electrical automaton depicting this famous character at the end of the XVIIIth c, with his stick. Three movements ; head, eyes and arms. On a base. 220 volts. Original condition. Nº : Four automata attributed to M. ASTRE a joiner and decorator in Toulouse during the 1st half of the XXth c. Rediscovered in an attic, these automata have been restored recently. Their inspiration is that of the great automata of the end of the XIXth c. (n° 752 à 757). Nº 752: "Buveur sur son tonneau" (A drinker seated on a
barrel) with scenery of two barrels and bottles. Height 42 cm (repaired
and restored). New clothes.
Nº 753: "Singe pêcheur" (A monkey fishing) with scenery
of a pond with ducks. Height 42 cm (repaired and restored), new clothes.
Nº 754: "Musicien sur la lune" (quartier de lune) (A musician
on a quarter of the moon) , two tunes, of which : "heure exquise, qui nous
grise..." Height. 40 cm (repaired and restored) new clothes and cello.
Nº 755: "Musicien sur la lune" (pleine lune) (A musician
on the full moon) Height 55cm, (repaired and restored), vêtements
et violoncelle neufs.
Nº 756: A lot of 4 automaton heads H. 11cm (raw bisque,
without decoration).
Nº 757: Ten staff-made automaton heads glass eyes, (repaired
and restored)
Nº 757 bis: Six electrical automatons for a windowcase, ca 1970/1980. good condition. Nº 758: "L'Oie" (the goose) 55 cm. Nº 759: "Lapin sortant du chapeau" (A rabbitt from a hat)
