N° 753. A 6 tunes musical clock base,
Oval shaped varnished base, 45 cm, with a metal plaque with the tunes
titles. Brass cyl. 9,2cm. 42 teeth, probably by J. Cuendet. Artisanal
zither system. Ca 1870/80. Good sound.
N° 754. Thibouville, Organina 24 keys.
Black case 52cm (wear). Bellows remade, good general condition but
several reeds play continuously. With 5 used old books of music. Ca
1900.
N° 755. A coin operated "de gare" (station) musical box,
with 3 dancing dolls, and (incomplete) sweet dispenser. Black case,
sculpted with a glass door in front, and an 18 cm top. Height without
top : 72 cm. Width : 49 cm. Small accidents. 8 tunes tunesheet. Handle
winding. Nickel plated double barrel movement (spring unhooked). 33cm
cyl. "Sublime Harmonie" on 2 combs (2 broken teeth, some rust), with
drum and 6 bells. 3 large old dancing dolls. A typical piece ca 1900,
which could be found in train stations. Needs restoration.
N° 756. Polyphon, an upright 40 cm disc musical box,
on a (not original) base with coin operation (incomplete).
173x54x34xcm. (Top lacking). Two 38 teeth each opposite combs (total 76
teeth). Ca 1900. Spring motor, but no handle, due to electrification of
the transmission (220 V). In working order, good condition. With 13
discs (some rust).
N° 757. A 12 tunes musical box,
Large simple black case, the two forebolts lacking. 67 cm. Red inside,
ca 1870. Hand witten tune sheet ("Musique de Genève"). Keywound
(formerly lever- ? ). Brass 42 cm cyl. One broken tooth, and another
badly repaired. In working order.
N° 758. Symphonion, a small 11,5 cm disc musical box,
Case 18 cm (some wear) stamped "Coronation", with operating
instructions in English inside the cover. Speed regulation. In working
order, with 4 discs. Ca 1900.
N° 759. A small coin-operated barrel piano,
"Automatic Piano Souribes Contrexéville Vosges", "Baby Piano"
inscribed on the cast iron frame. Dark wood case in good condition (a
few chips), with a faded canvas painted with birds. 117x85x48cm. Some
worm damage to the lids. Tune sheet (8 tunes). Incomplete coin
mechanism. Winding with a handle. One 58 cm "interchangeable" wooden
cylinder (some circular wear). "Mandoline" effect missing. Beginning of
the 20th c. Good general condition, it works, but a restoration is
advisable.
N° 760. A large 8 tunes interchangeable cylinder musical box,
Fine case with boxwood stringing and inlay decoration, canted corners,
some small wear. 79cm. Lever wound, one spring barrel, with one 33 cm
brass cylinder. Swiss, end of 19th c. Good playing and sound, a few
damper noises. Good condition, but needs cleaning.
N° 761. Polyphon, a large 50 cm disc table musical box.
Sculpted wooden case with inlay (many accidents, worm damage). 66cm.
Under the lid, a fine glassed engraving of putti. Two opposite combs
with each 40+ 19 teeth, both totalising 118 teeth. 2 broken teeth. Ca
1900. Good playing and sound (some damper noises). Needs restoration
and attention to the disc driving. With one disc.
N° 762. Polyphon, an upright coin operated 50 cm disc musical box.
Sculpted wooden case (some traces of later painting), height without
top : 98cm. Spring driven with a handle. 2 opposite combs with 60 teeth
each. Complete (excepted the glass cover of the spring, and the wooden
grip of the handle), but general cleaning and some adjustments (coin
operation) needed. Ca 1900. Good sound. With 20 discs (some rust, and
bent borders). A similar style cabinet (perhaps original) houses the
discs (needs refixing). Height. 1m. Total height, base, instrument and
top : 2,25m.
N° 763. A rare 30 keys Piano Melodico,
small model on feet, black case 87 cm (some worm damage). Apparently
complete, good general condition, with 3 books of music, but needs
restoration. Ca 1900.
N° 764. A rare "Limonaire Frères" 38 keys carrousel organ,
with bass drum, snare drum and cymbal, to restore. Rectangular painted
front (many repaints), with the inscription : "Limonaire Fres", with
small columns, and side consoles for the percussions. Height. 144,
width. 160, depht. 77cm. Ca 87 pipes (stopped, open and reeds), of
which 6 bass pipes under the case. 2 automatic stops. Some tentative
restorations, very dirty and some moisture. Electrical motor (without
guarantee). 1st third of the 20th c.It does not work, but seems
complete and near its original condition (upper top and a rear panel
missing), as described in the period Limonaire catalogues. With 20
books of music, most of them modern.
N° 765. A rectangular shaped coin operated barrel piano,
"Aubertin Troyes", stamped inside "Eolienne Foray-Storace Nice". Glazed
front (some chips, glass missing) with in the middle an oriental style
painting. 167x92x58cm. 10 tunes tunesheet. Speed adjustment missing.
Spring driven with a handle. Large 68 cm wooden cylinder (circular
wear) playing on 36 piano keys, a tambourine (3 keys), a cymbal and
some rattles. Wooden frame (lower part partly replaced, some splits).
Beginning of 20th c. Good general condition, but a restoration is
advisable.
N° 766. L'Epée, a 6 tunes musical box,
according to the nice tune sheet. Case with transfer decoration (some
wear). 31cm. Nickel plated movement, lever wound, tune indicator, 9 cm
cyl. Good playing and sound. This box is very typical of the end of the
19th c.
N° 767. A rare 8 tunes serinette, end of 18th c.,
with handwritten tune sheet, and on the cylinder the maker's label
(partly illegible) "ALRIE ? père, facteur de serinettes, Charmes
(?) sur Moselle, en Lorraine". Some normal wear, restoration needs
completion, interresting tunes and playing.
N° 768. Edelweiss, a 20,5 disc coin operated musical box.
Fine fair wooden box with boxwood stringing decoration. Handle missing
(so we could not listen to it). One comb, one disc. Otherwise, good
general condition.
N° 769. Seraphone, a 20 keys organette,
with one paper roll (torn beginning). L 44cm. Apparently complete, but
needs to be restored. Ca 1900.
N° 770. A small "3 Aires" (sic) musical box,
with old tunesheet of erratic precision. Inlaid box 13cm. Cyl. 7cm.
Good notation (damper noises, 3d tune to adjust). Ca 1900.
N° 771. "Boîte de gare", a coin operated musical box,
with marbles or sweets dispenser. 6 tunes. Windowcase style box (some
damage to the upholstery). 45x49x30cm. Keywound, visible movement with
21 cm nickel plated cylinder. Zither at will, tune indicator. Ca 1900.
4 broken teeth, a little rust, some damper noises. otherwise good
condition and sound. Although its appearance (height, mirror in the
bottom) suggests it, this box does not seem to have ever had dancing
dolls.
N° 772. Bremond, a rare all "voix célestes" musical box,
(36 notes) long playing, 10 tunes interchangeable cylinders. Fine case
with boxwood stringing and veneered decoration (some accidents)
37x79x45cm. Exterior ratchet handle winding. Two large barrels, one on
each side of the shaft. Governor with speed adjustment. Tune indicator,
Brass 20 cm cylinder, 8,5cm in diameter. Ca 1875. (2 cylinders present
on the 6 mentionned on the large tunesheet). Good general condition, it
works but lacks air from the bellows. Needs cleaning and adjusting.
This type of box with reeds only and no comb with vibrating teeth is
rare.
N° 773. "Harpe Tremolo", a fine 8 tunes musical box,
57 cm box, with boxwood stringing and inlay decoration (small splits).
Fine tunesheet (small tear). Leverwound. 33 cm cyl playing on 2 combs,
zither at will, tune indicator. End of the 19th c. Good playing and
sound, good programm. An interesting box needing a good cleaning.
N° 774. Mermod, a 8 tunes musical box,
nice tune sheet, winding with exterior handle (missing). Simple case
(boxwood stringing) 40cm. Typical Mermod barrel and stops. Brass 14 cm
cyl. End of the 19th c. Good condition and working order. Under the box
is inscribed : "restaurée par E. Blyelle en 1973".
N° 775. Edelweiss, a 20,5 cm disc musical box,
40 cm case, a split in the cover and worn transfer. Handle, one comb.
Ca 1900, with one disc. Good general condition and sound.
N° 776. Symphonion, a 26 cm disc musical box,
Simple case (some accidents), 33cm. Front lever winding. One 48 teeth
comb (one broken tooth). The locking of the disc maintaining rod needs
attention. It works, good sound. Ca 1900. With 1 disc.
N° 777. A fine Black Forest style musical chair.
Sculpted and inlaid wood, with hunting scenes. Height, ca 90cm. The
small 2 tunes movement starts when someone sits on. End of 19th c. Good
general condition (small normal wears).
N° 778. Autophone, Cabinet Roller Organ, a 20 keys organette.
Case with handles, and maker's transfer decoration. 46cm. A handle
turns the 16 cm wooden cylinder ("cobs"), with helicoidal notation (3
turns for 1 tune). American, ca 1900. With 10 cylinders, of which "La
Marseillaise".
N° 779. A musical sewing necessaire,
in the shape of a traveling case. Black leather with metal corners.
22cm. Inside, blue fabric decoration, a mirror, and a small tray with
the sewing implements (small parts missing). In the bottom, a nice
tabatière style movement, playing well (defective winding). End
of 19th c.
N° 780. A 2 tunes musical cigar dispenser,
with tune sheet. Height 29cm. The music plays when opening the sides.
Various accidents to the case. Plays well.
N° 781. A dummy fair organ front, in the Gasparini style.
From old elements (very worn sculptures and paintings). Central part
150x115, + 2 side parts of width. 37cm each, + 2 top elements of height
40cm. Needs restoration.
N° 782. Fourneaux, a cylinder harmonium,
in need of completion and restoration (handle, keybord, transmissions,
etc... lacking). Case 85x110x51cm. The maker's card "breveté du
roi"" dates the instrument before1848. Fine 86 cm cylinder (Sanctus,
Offertoire, etc..). Bellows, 4 reed stops chest (a few parts missing).
For a very similar instrument in good condition, see Ord-Hume, Barrel
Organ, photos 42. Fourneaux is mostly known for his 1963 patent for the
"Pianista", the first pneumatic system to be placed in front of a
piano.
N° 783. A 2 tunes cigar dispenser,
Black case, 6 opening doors, end of 19th c. apparently complete (not
dismantled) needs restoration.
N° 784. A 11,5 cm disc musical alarm clock,
with one disc. Wooden case, height 34cm. 2 broken teeth. It works, but
needs restoration.
N° 785. A small manivelle rectangular musical box,
14 cm. The former owner states : "walnut box, good 56 teeth 3 tunes
movement L'Epée 1860-1880". Without any guarantee, as we could
not open this box (rusted screws).
N° 786. A small manivelle rectangular musical box,
ca 15cm, with a chromo on the lid, and tunesheet of the "4 airs, made
in France" under the box. A later handwritten indication states "28
lames, 4 airs au tour". Without any guarantee, as we could not open
this box (rusted screws).
N° 787. An empty musical box case,
probably for a hidden bells movement. 51cm. Brass stringing and inlay
decoration. Some wear.
N° 788. A musical photo album, with a chromo on the lid,
Small 2 tunes movement (defective spring ratchet).
N° 789. A fine 4 tunes musical tile, with service bell.
Tunesheet, the tile depicts a "scène galante". Good usual
condition ca 1900.
N° 790. A small musical casket,
3 tunes (tunesheet), handle, and transfer print on the front. 21cm.

N° 791. Symphonion, a 14,5 cm disc musical box,
in a "Japanese" style lacquered box. 5 broken teeth, one disc. Ca 1900.
As is, without handle.
N° 792. A musical tile, without music.
A bird and flowers. Worm damage.
N° 793. A musical base,
Black oval case. Pull cord winding, cyl. 3cm. Good condition, but does
not work (needs cleaning).
N° 794. Five modern enlargements of old photos from the beginning of the 20th c.
60x80 on plywood and plexi protected, some wear. Two photos show the
Limonaire workshop (making the organs and the books of music). Three
show phonographs scenes ; a recording, the making of records, and a
sound movie projector. These two lots may be sold separately.
N° 797. Four books,
amidst them "l'Age d'or des automates" by Ch. Bailly.
N° 798. Decamps : a rare walking teckel dog.

N° 800. Elie Martin : a fine mechanical jumping horse,
with a cow boy, skin covered horse, (an accident to the bisque head),
it works, Long. 21 cm.
N° 801. Toto and Tata, by Roullet Decamps,
Two fine and rare mechanical toys, composition heads after the
Montmartre painter Poulbot, with beautiful original clothes, the boy as
a schoolboy with his schoolbag in his back, the girl rocking her doll.
With swinging and walking mechanisms. Beginning of the 20th c. , fine
original condition, 36 cm.
N° 802. Decamps : a bear as an acrobat,
covered with white skin, wooden legs. Fine movement, winding by
rotating the arms. Attached with a chain. H 28 cm.
N° 803. Roullet Decamps : a kettle with a baby sending kisses,
"Marmite : bébé sortant de l'intérieur envoyant
des baisers", rare and fine automaton, end of 19th c. Modeled and
varnished kettle, the child with a rare bisque head by Jumeau, open
mouth and double rank of teeth, blue paperweight eyes, bisque hands
(accident to a thumb), fine mechanism : the kettle cover opens, the
child rotates towards the audience and send 3 kisses, then hides again
inside the kettle. Fine original condition. Height 20 to 27 cm, r&eacu
te;f. 198 in the Maison Roullet Decamps catalogue . See Chr. Bailly,
"l'âge d'or des automates", page 292.
N° 804. A German automaton with a handle,
depicting a barrel organ, with two characters seated on the instrument.
Bisque heads, one depicting a full head playing cymbals, the other a
monkey beating time. Height 30 cm.
N° 805. Vichy. A fine 3 wheels mechanical toy to be pulled,
"Femme à la cage à oiseau" (a woman with a bird in a
cage). Fine rotating Jumeau head on bisque shoulders, bisque hands,
fine original clothes, with mechanism producing a voice. Accidents to
the front wheel and to one of the rear wheels. Height 46 cm, end of the
19th c.
N° 806. Phalibois, an automaton of a barrister, "L'Avocat",
Fine automaton with 7 actions by wooden cams. Mechanism stamped in an
oval J. Phalibois. Recently revised movement in good condition : head,
eyelids, mouth and fine movements of the arms. All these movements
depict a barrister pleading with passion. On a wooden base. Restoration
to the clothes. End of 19th c. H. 50 cm - L. 48 cm.
N° 807. Bontems, a bush with singing birds and a clock,
"Buisson d'oiseaux chanteurs avec pendule". Perched on a tree, two
birds flutter from branch to branch. On top, another bird flaps its
wings. On the ground, a fourth one drinks water. Mechanism needs
revision. Blackened wooden base. H. 70 cm - W. 48 cm.
N° 808. A fine animated musical picture,
Moutain landscape with 3 mills, a boat and a procession of various
characters (finely painted cardboard silhouettes), in a gilt and glazed
frame (some accidents), covered at the rear with paper hiding the small
2 tunes movement. Good general working and playing condition. 19th c.
45 x 53 x 15 cm.
N° 809. Two automaton scenes of a clockmaker at work,
probably Austrian mid 19th c. Will be sold separately. The first one
depicts in paper silhouettes a water mill with above a watch stand with
a balance-cock movement. Clockwork mechanism, small accidents to
restore, black wooden upholstery, the base richly decorated with gilt
metal muses H. 25cm - width. 15cm. The second scene depicts a public
garden, in paper silhouettes, with a small carrousel, swinging see-saw,
a procession of characters. Brass mechanism with wooden pulleys and a
small music movement. Black wooden case with gilt metal muses
decoration. H 21cm - width 21cm
N° 810. Roullet Decamps, "Coquette au miroir",
(A smart lady in front of her mirror), a fine automaton with
red-stamped Jumeau head, closed mouth, blue paperweight eyes, bisque
hands. 3 movements : she looks herself two times in the mirror, then
moves her head, then breathes two times in the bunch of flowers she
holds in her right hand. Canted cornered base covered with red welvet,
one tune musical movement. Height : 52 cm. Good original condition
(with two wigs, one being original).
N° 811. Roullet-Decamps, "Le maître d'école et son élève",
(The schoolmaster and his pupil). An automaton of a schoolmaster
standing in front of its desk, and admonesting a pupil on its knees and
bearing a dunce's cap. Movements of the two hands and the head of the
master who, after reading the pupil's exercise, waves his stick.
Movements of the dunce's cap and of the pupil's two hands. On a musical
base. The master has a closed mouth Jumeau head, and the pupil a
Gaultier head (crack). Formerly in the Jacques Courtois collection. Tot

N° 813. A rare and very large automaton of a "Noir joueur de banjo",
(A black man playing a banjo), probably French, ca 1910. Fine papier
maché head and hands, modelled hair, movements of the eyes,
mouth, head and right hand. Mechanism and musical movement inside the
body, fine period clothes. Height : 1,25 m.
N° 814. A large musical picture clock with angelus ringing,
Large sculpted and gilt frame (wear) 92 x 112 cm. Modern naive painting
(a church in countryside landscape). Good clock movements with hour and
angelus striking on gongs (rectangular bedplates, pendulum lacking).
Good 4 tunes musical movement, brass 20 cm cylinder playing on a fine
comb (ca 106 teeth, a few pins bent). All these movements need
cleaning, and date from ca 1850/60. Fine playing and sound.
N° 815. A mantel clock with a dancing automaton.
Traditional gilt metal end of 19th c. clock, baroque style, depicting a
philospher. The base is curiously cut to house a small gilt metal
ballerina (8 cm) wich moves : up and down, arms, legs. These 3
movements are linked with the small pull-cord musical movement housed
in the blackened wooden base. W. 50 - H. 38cm. Good condition.
N° 816. Farkas, a fine automaton as a "Fumeur de narguilé",
(a narguilé Turkish smoker), ca 1970, small musical movement
attributed to Reuge ("marche turque").
N° 817. A religious 2 tunes musical picture,
with tunesheet (Holy night). Damaged frame (65x47cm), otherwise good
condition. A transfer decoration imitating "fixé sous verre"
frames small statues of the Holy Virgin and children.
N° 818. An automaton of a black man with a tray,
"Noir au plateau", papier maché and composition figure with a
very fine smiling head, movements of the head thanks to a balance rod
system. Fine period costume, small accident to the right foot. German
beginning of the 20th c. ? Height 60 cm.
N° 819. Renou, an automaton of a bird trainer,
"le Dresseur d'Oiseaux". Fine character with a smiling bisque head : he
stands in front of a table and trains his bird. On the ground is the
empty cage. Movements of his two arms, his head, and the bird. One tune
musical movement, restored clothes. Height 48 cm.
N° 820. A good model of the astronomical clock in Strasbourg.
With animation, made ca 1960 at the 1/10 scale by an ingeneer,
Christian Dupont. Many movements in the various dials, landscape,
apostles, etc. and of course the famous cock on top of the clock. With
a rare distance guiding system, from a large automaton figure (1,75 m)
featuring the builder explaining its work. With a magnetic soundtrack
system. Height of the clock 1,40m - Width. 0,83m - D. 0,31m.
N° 821. An automaton of "the hen which lay golden eggs",
"La poule aux oeufs d'or", in a futurist manner with radio guiding,
electric motor and lighting, in wood and chromium plated metal. Made ca
1960 by an ingeneer, Christian Dupont. Height 0,90 m - Long. 0,95 m.
N° 822. A model of a Far West train,
in scale N, featuring a Western American landscape with station,
village, mine, paddle-wheel boat. Six Jouef locomotives decorated with
wood. It works, with lighting. Long. 1,54 x0, 46m. Made ca 1970 by an

N° 835. Parts of a musical automaton scene,
with a ship, mills and towers. Black ovale base 40cm with a snuffbox
type musical movement (blocked). As is.
N° 836. Ten stuffed birds, for use as singing birds.
N° 839. A large 52 keys fair organ, on a covered trailer.
This organ was made in the 1980's from old parts, and plays on the
45/52 Limonaire scale. Its style is near the Dutch street organs by the
famous Carl Frei, but it can play other styles, such as the French
repertoire. Two close axles trailer (with circulation papers in order),
long. 4,20m (+ 1,05 for the coupling pole), width 2,10, Height 2,83m.
Metal built and entirely closed. A rear door for service. The left side
opens entirely (hydraulic system) to discover the front of the organ
(total height then ca 4 m). Dimensions of the organ itself inside :
width 290 cm, height 185 cm (+top, ca 90cm) depht 120cm. Very beautiful
old front (Bursens ?), decorated, sculpted and painted (restorations).
Electric blower (220V). Ca. 156 pipes : 3 ranks of stopped pipes and
trombones for the 8 bass notes, 2 ranks of stopped pipes and cellos for
the 11 accompaniment notes, and 2 ranks of stopped pipes and 3 ranks of
violins for the 22 notes of melody and counter-melody. Drum, snare drum
and cymbal. 3 automatic stops. Recent 52 keys keyframe (of which 2 keys
unused). With more than 50 books of music (ca 30 old ones by Carl Frei,
20 modern ones by Paul Boyadjoglou, and one scale book). This organ has
always been maintained in very good condition, and played regularly.
Excellent condition of presentation and in working order. An ideal item
for fairground or festive manifestations.
N° 840. A fine musical sewing necessaire,
Beautiful burwood veneered rectangular case, with a handle. L. 16cm. A
mirror inside the lid. A tray houses various mother of pearl decorated
sewing implements, complete (rare, only a very small accident to a
thread bearer). In the bottom of the box has been placed (later) a fine
snuffbox type 2 tunes musical movement of the same period, completely
restored (new commands). Cylinder 6,2cm, playing on teeth by groups of
5. Good playing and sound. Mid 19th c. The whole is in excellent
condition. Such items were often sold in Paris in the Galeries du
Palais-Royal.
N° 841. Symphonion, a 19,5 cm disc musical box,
wooden case (wear) with transfer decoration (wear) on the lid.
18x27x21cm. Fine lithography inside the lid. Plays well, with 24 discs
(some rust), housed in a blue folding type case. Ca 1900.
N° 842. A "Sublime Harmonie" 8 tunes musical box,
Re-varnished case with decoration of boxwood stringing and inlay of
flowers, 70cm. Lever wound, brass 41 cm cylinder playing on two combs.
8 tunes ("Va petit mousse...", etc.). Strong sound (some damper
noises). Ca 1880. Possibly for the Russian market (cyrillic
inscriptions on the commands).
N° 843. Ch. Ullmann, "Multista n°2", a rare interchangeable musical box,
Fine burwood varnished case with boxwood stringing decoration. A drawer
in the base houses the 6 cylinders. 29x61x36cm. Lever wound, double
spring barrel. Changing cylinders uses a rather complex system to block
the barrel, thanks to a large endless screw. Zither. Nickel plated 21
cm and 4 tunes cylinders, with the titles of the tunes inscribed in a
notch in the lenght of the cylinder. 77 teeth comb (4 replaced). End of
19th c. In excellent condition, it is a spectacular rarity, with good
playing and sound. The actual maker of this system seems to have been
Billon Haller in Geneva, Ullmann being only the retailer.
N° 844. Ch. Ullmann, "Tremolo à Zither", a 12 tunes musical box.
Fine varnished case with boxwood stringing decoration and an amusing
inlay of water lilies, a frog and a dragon-fly. Gilt bronze handles.
18x64x24cm. Fine tunesheet. Lever wound, tune indicator, zither. Cyl.
33cm (two tunes per turn). Comb stamped "Qualité Excelsior". End
of 19th c. Good and powerful sound, completely restored.
N° 845. A large hidden bells 12 tunes musical box,
Impressive varnished case with boxwood stringing decoration, gilt
bronze handles. Lever wound, "fat" (diam. 8 cm) 53 cm brass cylinder
playing on 2 combs and 10 bells striken by 17 hammers. Two tunes per
turn. Completely and well restored (5 teeth and several tips changed).
Plays well. Ca 1875.
N° 846. Magic Organa Hohner, automatic accordion with percussions,
The accordion, type of the 1930's, has been restored with period
pieces. The percussions are new (drum, snare drum, cymbal). Modern
electrical blower (220v). Excellent condition of presentation and
playing. Only the plaques "Magic Organa" are missing. With 14 old paper
rolls, 70 modern ones, and several scale-rolls, spools, etc.
N° 847. Bacigalupo, a rare reeds and 5 bells 31 keys portable barrel organ,
Wooden case with decoration of boxwood stringing, medals and small
columns for the upper gallery housing the 5 bells (bells missing).
53x55x32cm. Inscribed on the front "G. Bacigalupo, Schönhauser
Allée 79 Berlin". 41 cm cylinder (circular wear). 7 tunes. This
organ is said to have been formerly in the Bacigalupo family. Ca 1900.
A fine instrument, apparently complete, but restoration needs to be
completed.
N° 848. A "voix célestes" musical box, to restore,
Canted corners box, 69 cm. On the front, a medal inscribed : "Guiton
Frères, aux Enfants Sages, Paris". Lever wound, 33 cm brass
cylinder playing on 18 reeds and 83 teeth (3 tips broken). Complete
(excepted tunesheet and several inside box dividers). Bellows in rather
good condition. Good sound, classical tunes. Ca 1875. After
restoration, it should be a fine box.
N° 849. Weil & Harburg, "Concertino Zither", a 6 tunes musical box,
Case with boxwood stringing and inlay decoration (wear), handles, 57
cm. Two tunesheets with the same tunes, one in French, the other in
German. Lever wound, 2 combs. 9 broken teeth (5 in the bass, and 4 in
the treble). Many bent pins. Geneva, end of 19th c. Good sound,
deserves a restoration.
N° 850. Mermod Frères, a small 3 tunes musical box,
Burrwood 13 cm box with mother of pearl stringing and an escutcheon on
lid (small crack to the inner lid glass). Fine tunesheet with musical
putti, and inscribed "MF 1840". Brass 7 cm cylinder. Ca 1900
(Sainte-Croix, Suisse). Excellent condition.
N° 851. A good 6 tunes keywound musical box,
Simple 42 cm case (period, but not original) with Wurtel tunesheet (not
corresponding to the movement). Very good movement mid 19th c. with
brass 25,5 cm cylinder. No 4446 on the bedplate. One extreme bass tip
broken. Very good playing, notation and sound (a few damper noises).
N° 852. A 8 tunes cylinder musical box,
Simple 54 cm case (restored). Lever wound, brass 33 cm cylinder. Good
condition, but moderate sound and playing. Ca 1870.
N° 853. A fine 32 keys 3 stops "Ludophone" pipe organ on a cart,
Very beautiful upholstery venneered and varnished, with gilt metal
handles in shape of lion's heads, decoration of columns and inlay of
flowers and foliage. Pipes in sight. Dimensions of the organ :
90x73x54cm. Works with a handle or a wheel. 3 stops at will : wooden
stopped pipes (including large bass pipes under the case) ; metal
flutes, and reeds in the front. With 18 books of music "Le Ludion" and
a scale book. Recent make by "Le Ludion, Toulouse". On a cart (long.
1,50m) with old style wheels and a drawer for the books. Excellent
condition of presentation and in good working order.
N° 854. A 12 tunes musical box to restore,
Case decorated with inlay (accidents), 57 cm. Fine tunesheet. Lever
wound, 33 cm brass cylinder, 2 broken teeth, some bent pins. End of
19th c. Governor missing.
N° 855. "Veuve Amelotti, Nice", large coin operated barrel piano,
with retailer inscription "H. Servain à Nantes". Beautiful Art
Nouveau style case, with glass frame (replacing a painting ?) and
decoration of jigsawcut and painted wood (foliage, splits on one side).
179x143x65cm. Spring driven (handle lacking). Tunesheet of the 10
rather original tunes, suggesting a use in a brothel. Metal frame,
crossbanded strings, a few splits in the table. Large 112 cm cylinder,
alas very damaged (circular wear, important split in long) playing on
58 keys (52 piano, 4 tambourine and two triangles, one probably not
original). A beautiful instrument, apparently complete, but needing -
and deserving - an important restoration.
N° 856. "Capital", an American interchangeable "cuff" musical box ,
Varnished case 23x53x36cm. Inside, a chromolithograph of a pond with
snow (see Bowers, p. 135). Winding with an external handle. Hidden
coiled spring. Typical 14 cm "cuffs" (tapered hollow "cylinders"),
playing on a 58 teeth comb through stars, as in a disc musical box.
Good sound and working condition. With 8 "cuffs" housed in the forepart
of the box. This instrument, entirely restored, is rare and
interesting, and very looked after by collectors. It was produced in
small numbers around 1897 (see Bowers, pp 134/141). This model is the
middle size one, between the 44 and the 81 teeth models.
N° 857. A 6 tunes musical box,
Fine case decorated with boxwood stringing and inlay of music
attributes, 50 cm. 21cm nickel plated cylinder with tune indicator and
zither. The 6th tune suffered a run, otherwise good condition. End of
19th c.

Varnished case, 25 cm, (glued split in the lid). Lever wound, speed
regulator. Ca 1900. Good condition, with 8 discs.
N° 860. A good 6 tunes "Mandoline" musical box,
Burrwood veneered case with boxwood stringing decoration. 43cm. Fine
tunesheet. Leverwound. Rather crude tune indicator and zither. Brass 21
cm cylinder playing on a fine 76 teeth comb (1 bass tooth broken).
Curiously, the cylinder is noted for a treble tooth which never existed
... Ca 1875. Fine playing and sound, although strong damper noises.
N° 861. L'Epée, a 6 tunes piccolo musical box,
Typical L'Epée case, painted, boxwood stringing and transfer
decoration (wear). 35cm. Lever wound, brass 12 cm cylinder. A few bass
pins bent. Good condition and sound. End of 19th c. Needs cleaning.

Black 19 cm case (hinge defective). The pressure rod needs adjusting.

Fine inlay of music attributes on the lid. 9 cm cyl., 52 teeth. One of
the tunes is an extract of "La bonne auberge du Cheval Blanc".

N° 869. A musical cigar dispenser as a trunk,
Black varnished wooden case, with brass banding imitating the corners
and the straps. A few chips and splits. On the lid is an oval medalion
depicting a crowned head. Good snuffbox type 2 tunes movement (non tune
stop). Good general condition, end of 19th c.
N° 870. A 24 keys Organina Thibouville to restore,
Seems complete. With 8 old books of music.
N° 871. "JJ Benoît à Mirecourt", a "merline" to restore,
Fine case with light checker boxwood stringing decoration (small
accidents). 17x33x23cm. Fine handle. Handwritten tunesheet mentioning
10 tunes for 2 cylinders (only one present). Metal pipes, 2 stops at
will (one opened, one stopped). Maker's label on the cylinder
("Département des Vosges"). 1st half of 19th c. Complete, but
needs restoration.
N° 872. Mira (Mermod), a large 47 cm disc table musical box,
Fine varnished mahogany case on lion's legs. Stamped inside the lid
"Empress, Concert Grand - Chicago" (retailer). 37x73x56cm. Winding with
external handle. Two opposite combs, with 12 large teeth and 70 narrow
teeth each (164 teeth in all). A zither lever acts on both combs. Ca
1900. Completely restored (a few details to complete, stopping bar of
the lid, and the hidden inside support of the movement). Excellent
sound. With 15 discs. Mermod disc boxes are usually of very good
quality. The Stella discs are without projections, whereas Mira discs
(here the large size) are with projections.
N° 873. A table with a musical coin operated game of bicycle runners,
The patent has been registered by Noma Sandoz à Genève in
1901. Glass covered wooden table with inside a game of 5 cyclists on
concentric runs (incomplete mechanism). Good 8 tunes musical movement
stamped "M F" for "Mermod Frères". Exterior handle winding,
brass barrel with parachute, nickel plated 21 cm cylinder playing on 52
teeth. Tune indicator, modern tunesheet. The revised musical movement
is in excellent condition. Table dimensions : 1mx0,65m , height 0,75m
