Ampico Transmission Frame & Rubber Motor Mounts
By Don Teach

Unfortunately Bob Streicher is no longer making Ampico B unit valve
ball bleeds, motor mounts, or transmission frames for Ampico pianos,
according to three people that have spoken with him recently. His shop
suffered a flood and several other problems have prevented his making
the parts. His parts were the best.

I would also like to thank the three people that responded to my plea
about Ampico transmission frames. I have been working on the patterns
to cast these in brass and have located a source of rubber for the
motor mounts. I have not made the molds for the motor mounts. Bob
said the cost of the rubber is high and he is right.

I have found some rubber with a hardness of 85 which is a little harder
than the rubber Bob used for motor mounts. The only problem is the
rubber is blue in color. I would have to make a mold that can be used
to make 20 or so a time.
