Date: Fri, 06 Feb 1998 16:31:31 +1100 To: Mechanical Music Digest From: John Burton <job@zip.com.au> Subject: Green Welte Motor connections Hi Jody I recently helped a friend, who is restoring a Green Welte Upright Reproducing Piano, with the connections for the motor and the control/starting system. We worked out how to connect the system to enable the motor to start and run reliably without overheating, but he insists that there must be a way to have the motor run at two different speeds, as this was normal for this type of player. I have attached a photo of the motor and the control components which you may be able to make available to any interested readers that may be able to help me with my problem. There is one other mercury switch in the piano that switches the motor on and off, but apart from that and the component s in the photos, there seems to be nothing that could be used to change the speed of the motor. Have any readers come across this system before, and if so, is it a single or two speed system. Thanks in advance to anybody that may be able to help here.
