I have, in the long ago past, totally eliminated this problem by
buying a set of centering punches (Cheap! About $20.) and finding the
largest one that will fit in the wallowed-out hole.
Then chucking this centering punch in a drill press, and sliding the
crank back onto it. Then, with the centering punch still through it,
clamping the crank onto the drill press table.
Then remove the centering punch and put a 3/8" drill bit in its place.
Then drill out the hole to this diameter, and press fit 1/4 thick,
3/8" diameter, 1/4" center hole bronze bushings.
For new pins, stainless steel 1/4" bolts work nicely. Lubricate with
Vaseline -- Zero noise!
