FS: Maas-Rowe Vibrachime Model 74 Carillon
By Spencer Chase

I have a one-of-a-kind carillon for sale. It started life as a
model 74 Maas-Rowe Vibrachime carillon which used punched Mylar
rolls to store the music. It has been converted to MIDI control.

I have made various small improvements including the installation
of dampers so it can play more music than the original arrangements
which relied only on gradual decay of the tones. Now you can play
more staccato arrangements as the tones do not drone on and on.

I wrote a program to play the carillon on a scheduled basis. This
would require a dedicated little Windows computer to be running
full time. You can schedule any MIDI file to play at any time and
can save any number of programs for occasions like Christmas or
Easter, et cetera.

I have MIDI files that I made for several of the classical clock
chimes, including Westminster and a few others. Other music needs
to be arranged specifically for this limited compass of 27 notes.
The notes are arranged chromatically so the carillon can play
in any key.

The unit is quite compact so it can be shipped easily, unlike the
original carillon configuration which had a steel cabinet and huge
amplifiers. I can take pictures if someone is really interested
and I might be able to find some recordings of the carillon playing
but these can be found online as well.

Most music available for carillons is really boring, partly because
it needed to be arranged for a device without dampers. Having
dampers on this carillon tremendously extends the range of music
it can play.

I also have a small amplifier that will go with the system and will
sell an outdoor PA horn speaker for an additional cost if anyone
wants to set this up with an outdoor speaker.

I would like to get $1200 plus shipping for this one-of-a-kind
device.
