Ampico Accompaniment Roll "O mio babbino caro"
By Bob Garner
I have two questions about Ampico Roll No. 30031, "O Mio Babbino Caro",
key of A flat. First, it is listed in two of my Ampico Roll catalogs
as played by Ross but, on the roll it states it is played by Milton
Suskind. Which is correct?
The other question is about its Tempo: the roll shows the Tempo to
be 85, but several opera fans and at least two sopranos have all said
the correct roll Tempo should be around 110. The roll states it is an
accompaniment recording for soprano. Which Tempo is correct?
