Gillian's Wonderland Pier Carousel and Replica Wurlitzer 157 facade
Hello, since hearing about the closure of Gillian's Wonderland Pier
in October of this year, I took a trip to film and take pictures of
everything I wanted to before its closure. One of the things I took
videos and photos for is the antique Philadelphia Toboggan Company
(PTC) 75 carousel and its replica Wurlitzer 157 facade built by Kromer.
This carousel only has band organ recordings playing. When I asked
someone at Guest services about what will happen to this carousel,
unfortunately she did not know yet. However, I heard someone started
a petition page for this carousel, but I only saw it on Facebook.
I will be speaking with the carousel curator, Barbara Charles, who
my good friend Andrew Lardieri referred me to.
I took two videos of this carousel, one on the ride and the other
off the ride. I really hope and pray that this carousel will be
restored and moved to a local park some day. If that's its fate,
I will volunteer to operate it, if it is relocated somewhere nearby.
