While watching classic cartoons on MeTV this weekend, I saw a great
Droopy cartoon featuring mechanical music machines. It's called
"Dixieland Droopy", and the first couple of minutes feature both
a very Wurlitzer-ish jukebox and a street organ, of course complete
with the organ grinder and his monkey. The carousel music is powered
by a record, but the cartoon's story makes that necessary!
The luminaries involved in the cartoon's production include Tex Avery
and Fred Quimby, and, clearly, someone involved loved Dixieland jazz!
I highly recommend viewing it at https://vimeo.com/367199531
However, if you are less than about 50 years old, you should be aware
that this was made before they outlawed cartoon characters smoking
cigarettes, so one scene may shock you a bit!
Monica Jones - who isn't usually a big Droopy Dog fan, but has watched
that cartoon repeatedly.
