Musical Movements by Zacharie Raingo of Belgium
By Craig Smith

Hello Johan -- I remember when this Zacharie Raingo clock was sold in
March, 2023, at Cottone Auctions, near my home in Rochester, New York,
USA. I was amazed to see it, and I was not surprised to see that it
sold for a handsome sum at the auction:

In your MMD article, you mention a number of noteworthy features of
the clock but you did not mention a most prominent feature -- that it
has a reversed comb: the longer bass notes are on the right, near the
governor. That would be _very_ unusual for a musical box that was made
anywhere outside the area around the Austrian Empire.

Musical boxes made in other parts of Europe have the longer bass teeth
on the left end, near the spring barrel.

Regards from the USA,
