Replacing Drive Belts On 1917 Red Welte Piano
By Nicholas Simons

[ Ref. Bob Hodge in 230905 MMDigest ]

Circular and flat drive belts can be easily replaced with new as the
relevant parts are readily available.

Circular leather belting is available and is often sold for treadle sewing
machines. This can be cut to length and joined with a steel loop pushed
through a suitable hole drilled across the end of the cut belt.

Flat leather belting is also available and can be joined with a proprietary
flat belt fixing, often called an alligator fixing.
