I'm trying to find some more information regarding the piano roll
titled, "Player Piano Mimics Other Instruments," Mastertouch roll
no. LP9323. The MIDI copy I have indicates that it was scanned by
"Gordon Raspin." While I'm not positive where I found this file
I believe it came from what I call the "New Zealand source."
It is (probably) an oversized roll as has a six or seven-minute
duration. While I'm certain about some of the instruments imitated,
I'm not certain of others and suspect some may be rather obscure
instruments.
If anyone knows the instruments imitated, please reply. If perhaps
there are any instructions for applying expression those would be
wonderful as well.
I have both an old (standard) pneumatic player and a modern solenoid
Player (Pianoforce) in a "baby" grand. With its action recently and
thoroughly cleaned and with hammers effectively reconditioned, the
Pianoforce player is producing some amazing sounds.
My so-called "MIDI conversions" often originate, I believe, from
programs that effectively turn any recorded "real" music [i.e., audio
recordings] into MIDI in a largely automated process. Some of these
conversions result in the player grand sounding like anything but
a piano!
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
