Symphonion 9-1/2" Disc Music Box Maintenance
By Tom Sendall

Could someone advise me about servicing my Symphonion double (opposing)
comb box? It is a Model 4 playing 9-1/2" discs. I am trying to get
inside to the mechanism and it appears that entering from above is the
only way. I have loosened all the screws showing but nothing moves.
Can the bedplate, held in by four screws, be taken out by itself or
is there more to the job than that?

The box is in good condition but, having sat for several years, it does
not respond to a winding. Also, the lid advises that it must be shut
during play. Any reason for it?

Thank you,
Tom Sendall
