Spinet Ampico A With Single Crescendo Unit
By Eli Shahar

I recently obtained a spinet Ampico in need of a complete restoration.
I'd like to ask a simple question.

The spinet Ampico has a single crescendo unit and yet it is a model A.
How is that connected in the tubing? I'm guessing that the crescendo
is connected to both expression mechanisms, but what about the input?

Is there any literature about this? Has someone any advice to offer
beyond "good luck"?!

Eli Shahar

[ The model B Ampico also has a single crescendo unit. When playing
[ an early Stoddard Ampico roll I'd often tee together the Treble
[ and Bass crescendo hoses, respectively, to control the single
[ inputs of the model B unit. This generally improved the resulting
 [ performance somewhat. -- Robbie
