Hello to all, I am currently seeking a competent piano technician
in the UK who preferably has had some previous experience with barrel
pianos and is able to replace a wrest-plank [pinblock] in a barrel
piano.
I have two instruments which really need the wrest-planks replaced.
One is a fairly standard coin-operated 48-note piano and the other
one is only a baby, having just 29 hammers including a 5 bi-chord
bass and the rest as tri-chords, apart from the top octave which is
four strings to the note.
The last time I needed a new wrest-plank in a barrel piano I took the
instrument to France to a retired piano technician who was formerly
based in Kent, England, as he had installed many piano wrest-planks
in his time, although my instrument was his first barrel piano!
I don't really fancy doing that trip again, and as it was a few years
ago now; I doubt whether the guy is still active.
Speaking to other collector owners that I know, there are two other
instruments, both 40-hammer I think, that also need the same service,
all located in England. Any leads or information would be much
appreciated.
Regards from UK,
Paul Baker
