FS: Maas-Rowe Carillon Tone Box with MIDI Control
By Spencer Chase
For sale is a one-of-a-kind MIDI-controlled carillon. It started
life as a Maas-Rowe roll reader cabinet and vacuum tube amplifier
as well as the tone unit. The amplifier and cabinet are gone so
please do not ask.
The tone box contains tuned rods (it's amazing how they got
harmonics similar to bells) and a magnetic pickup for each rod.
These pickups connect to a millivolt amplifier which outputs a
one volt peak-to-peak signal suitable for stereo amps, etc.
The unit contains a USB MIDI interface so it can be directly
plugged into a computer. Included is a program that plays MIDI files
at selected times, just like the original but much more versatile.
Since this is a one-of-a-kind it is difficult to come up with a
price, so I am starting with a minimum of $2000 and will take the
best offer over that. I will provide basic support but this unit is
best owned by someone who is familiar with PCs and MIDI. I will not
teach a new owner how to run Windows or simple programs.
