Motor Vibration on Seeburg L Nickelodeon
By Mike Walter

Hi Y'all, I have a 1923 Seeburg L Nickelodeon that I rebuilt maybe
ten years ago. It has a motor that may not be original. It is mounted
to a wooden block that is hinged with a 1/4" rod at the right end.
The left end of the mounting board is free to move up and down.

The motor pulley holds the armature of the motor and the weight of the
motor enables the pulley to turn the pump wheel. The motor is attached
to the top wood block by four wood screws that go through the supplied
holes on the motor case. The wood block at the right end has two
sections which encase the metal rod and there are six wood screws that
keep the rod in it's place.

The middle of the metal rod is screwed to the metal frame of the motor.
The bottom board is the connection to the cabinet, with wood screws
that are screwed from the top into the base of the cabinet. All screws
have felt washers at the top and bottom.

When the pump was first installed ten years ago, I did not realized
there was a flexible hinge. The pump was quiet with a longer pulley.
Should I go back to my first configuration, or is there a kind, quiet
way to install the motor to reduce the vibration?

Thanks very much for your input! It is appreciated!
