Most Violano rolls have five tunes on them. There are two exceptions,
and they are rolls number 2457 and 2470, which have ten tunes each.
I have seen recuts for both of these rolls in the past, so I know
samples of each roll exist on newer paper.
Because these are ten-tune rolls cut on a length of paper usually
used for five tunes, the tune durations are roughly half that of
a "normal" tune. This makes them ideal for public displays of
a mechanical music machine.
I have been contacted by an Italian museum looking for copies of these
two rolls for a Violano in their collection. Ideally, they would like
two copies of each in case one gets damaged from a lot of use. Please
contact me if you have one or more of these two rolls that you would
be willing to sell to this museum.
Recuts would be preferable as they would be more likely to hold up
to daily use. I will put you in touch with the museum if you have a
suitable copy. I have only CIS images and MIDI data files, if someone
has the capability to cut rolls from them. The museum's instrument
does not have MIDI capability, unfortunately.
