Rubber Bands Around Music Rolls: Alternatives
By Robert K Conant

Re: Lee Rothrock's question about alternatives to using rubber bands on
piano rolls. I found out long ago that modern rubber bands deteriorate
much sooner than the old ones. I have taken to using "hook and loop
fastener" straps that are made for tying up plants like tomatoes in the
garden.

I buy these on a roll of about 1/2-inch wide by about 75 feet. I cut
them to a length to go about 1-1/4 times around a piano roll and put
them on the roll. They last much longer than rubber bands and who cares
if they are green in color.

They are available at most big box stores, garden centers and Amazon.

Cheers,
Robert Conant
