Rubber Bands Around Music Rolls: Alternatives
By Mike Schoeppner
Bands around music rolls: What I use are "hair bands" sold under the
"Goody" brand in the hair care department. They are an elastic loop,
covered by fine woven threads. There are no metal connectors. You can
get them in packs of 50 at a reasonable price.
I believe they are available in different sizes, though the ones I use
are perfect for Raffin rolls, many piano rolls, band organ rolls, and
up to A-rolls. For the smaller piano rolls they can be knotted and used
as a smaller loop with a pull tab.
I have been using the "hair bands" for about a year with no noticeable
degradation. (This idea originally came from Gordie Davidson.)
