Dave, Regarding the set of 104 Wurlitzer Concert Organ rolls, I too
have this collection. Like you, I too had intentions of building some
type of instrument to play these.
I managed to get a couple of tunes to play somewhat on a temporary
'built-up' O-Roll Orchestrion. I held the roll in my hand while the
take-up spool pulled the paper over the tracker-bar. I only listened
to maybe two tunes, as I would have to rewind the roll manually.
The arrangements seemed to be more of an orchestrion styled arrangement
rather than a pipe organ arrangement. I even mentioned this to someone
who had told me that much of the rolls were created from transcriptions
of the Wurlitzer Concert PianOrchestra rolls.
(I seem to collect rolls backwards, building collections in hopes
of one day building or acquiring instruments to play them -- roll
collections such as Hupfeld Helios, Bursen's Arburo, G Rolls, M Rolls,
O Rolls, A Rolls, Wurlitzer APP Rolls, Ampico, Duo-Art, Welte, Aeolian
Grand and Wurlitzer Concert Organ Rolls. Contrary to what some persons
may have said of me, all my rolls and instruments have been purchased
by me through reputable sellers and means.)
Thank you for your time and understanding,
