Since taking over the baton in maintaining the Wurlitzer 165 catalog
with the help of NCA member and band organ enthusiast Dan Robinson,
I have now had more time to focus on possibly identifying the unknown
Wurlitzer 165 tunes arranged by Wurlitzer on their style 165 rolls,
particularly those issued at the start of the 20th century in the 65xx
and 66xx series.
While many of the tunes have been identified there are still some that
remain a mystery; I'm talking about 6516A-07(a waltz), 6521-02 (another
waltz), 6532-05 (a march two step) etc. These tunes have yet to be
identified and as such have been mislabeled with inappropriate titles
or just left a mystery. However, thanks to a little bird who told me of
one tune which had been listed as J. S. Zamecnik's "Spirit Of America
(A Patriotic Patrol)" for quite so long.
Well, I am now pleased to announce that the mystery behind that tune
from 165 roll 6505 is finally solved and that it is actually "Uncle
Sam", a march and two step by John J. Noonan and Dewitt Bell, first
published in 1910 by Bell Music Co. of Buffalo, New York. Here is a
video of a piano roll arrangement played on a Reproduco piano-organ:

[ The tune was identified by Ian Fraser, who remembered the Reproduco
[ video as the same melody as the Wurlitzer roll. Ian located the 1910
[ sheet music; the title page and 1910 copyright data is in this image:
