Ampico Perforator Punches Duo-Art Rolls
By Ed Chaban
I agree that watching a roll get perforated can be like watching grass
grow, but I have nothing but respect for those who continue to produce
the perforated paper we all rely on.
I visited the old QRS factory in the 1980s when the perforators were
controlled by Apple II computers. I saw Jeanne Malone making 1-to-1
copies for my Patriot label on Play-Rite's equipment. I visited Keystone
but their perforators were silent that day; that did not matter because
_any_ machine that makes rolls is _cool!_
My hat is off to Mr. Groman and Keystone Music Roll Co. When can
I get a Duo-Art catalog? I _strongly_ suggest polling the roll-buying
community for titles they'd like to see recut. Can there be a mechanism
to suggest titles? Wouldn't it be nice to know your product is sold
before you even produce it?
I have nothing but praise for those who supply us with the software for
our antique hardware. Our instruments are _nothing_ without them!
