Roll Boxes for Arburo, Bursens, Popper, Eich, Etc.
By Roger Wiegand
I'm working on a roll cutting project for Arburo 88-note rolls and
would very much like to acquire high quality, original-looking boxes
to put them in. As any of you who have ever looked into having boxes
made, they can be fearsomely expensive in small quantities.
I'd like to assess the level of interest on the part of others for
a very good quality, fully telescoping roll box, wrapped in a textured
paper like the originals with internal dimensions of 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" X
15-1/2". This fits the original rolls from Bursens/Arburo as well as
the recuts which have slightly smaller flanges. It should also work for
Popper and Pierre Eich rolls that used the same roll frame. It may also
work for others; the boxes could be made slightly larger to accommodate
another kind of roll if that created more demand.
I've been quoted a price of about $10/box (not including shipping) to
have these made in a quantity of 400. The setup cost is such that making
half as many would cost twice as much per box, so that makes no sense.
I'm guessing, but don't know, that 1000 could be had closer to $5/box.
So the question is, are there any others out there who would be
interested in having approximately 50+ boxes of this size at a price
of about $10 per box (plus shipping)? Please reply here or by email.
Oh -- I know that Uline sells a much cheaper fold-up box that would
hold the rolls. I'd use those as a last resort, but I really want a
much nicer, original-looking telescoping box if I can manage it.
