For sale: MMDer Rich Thomas is selling his MÃller "Artiste Reproducing
Player Pipe Organ", complete including a 2-manual console, 11 ranks
of pipes plus chimes and harp, a stand-alone roll player housed in
a desk plus a second stand-alone player housed in a vertical cabinet.
Also included are at least 45 player rolls.
Robert Ridgeway and an organ crew removed the organ from its original
installation in the auditorium of the Cincinnati School of Embalming,
then it was re-installed by a MÃller organ technician in Rich's home
in Los Angeles.
The "Funeral Director's" desk-style player unit was original with the
organ; the second player unit was acquired later from collector Burton
Burton of Pasadena, along with a roll collection including many rolls
of popular music.
When Rich retired and he and Mary moved home to the desert, there
wasn't room for it in the house so the entire organ was put into
storage on his property.
Rich is also offering for sale a restored Welte reproducing grand
piano, and also a Weber Duo-Art reproducing grand piano, unrestored,
in a unique pine case (veneer?). For more details contact

A long article by historian and collector Jim Weisenborne, "The MÃller
Artiste: Its History, Development and Repertoire", was published in
AMICA Bulletin, Vol. 29 No. 4, July/August 1992, page 4. On page 19
are photos of the different styles of cabinets that house the Artiste
roll player.
