Music Files for PianoDisc PDS-128Plus System
By Dan Wilbanks

I just received a piano equipped with a PianoDisc PDS-128Plus system.
I have contacted the local piano shop for upgrade options. This thing
is using a floppy disk drive. My question: is it possible to download
piano music like "Peanuts Theme Song" from YouTube and convert it to
play on my piano? This is already piano music.

Can I also convert songs from bands and it play on the piano? One song
in particular is Bob Seger's "Night Moves". Can I convert it to piano?
The movie "American Pop" has a piano version of "Night Moves". It's
better than the guitar version.

I would love to build a library of music like Journey's "Open Arms"
and other modern music. I have seen where I can purchase Queen or
Billy Joel [MIDI files], but not much else.

Please reply, I have spent hours searching Google trying to find these
answers.

[ I asked Dan, "Did the piano come with any floppy disks? Does the
[ PianoDisc system play the piano keys okay when you insert the
 [ floppy disk?"

The piano did come with several disks. They play perfectly. I spent
a couple hours last night trying to create my own "Peanuts Theme Song"
disk unsuccessfully. I cannot find it to buy.

I have a USB floppy drive and a diskette. I downloaded the song from
YouTube. It's strictly a piano version. I converted it to MIDI. I copied
it to the floppy and was so excited to go and try it. The piano wouldn't
read the disk. I got a message that it needed to be formatted by the
PianoDisc. I formatted the disk and tried again to copy the MIDI song
to it. My computer now will not recognize it and copy the file.

I then downloaded a program called MID2PianoCD. This program converts
the MIDI to what sounds like a modem talking. So two problems now.
I still cannot get it to copy to the floppy, and it's too big to fit
on the floppy. All these other floppies I have contain around 20 songs
each.

I contacted a local piano dealer yesterday to have the piano tuned
and upgrade me to the latest PianoDisc system. I'm not sure yet if they
are going to install the Prodigy with IQ player, or recommend changing
the floppy drive to a CD drive. So far they just had me take several
pictures of the equipment under the piano and send it to them.

While searching on Google last night I came across a floppy disk
emulator that allows you to put music on a thumb drive and use your
existing PianoDisc system. I think it was $200.

I have been searching the Internet for available music. I will pick
up some Chopin, Beethoven, and maybe some Brahms. I already have
"Nutcracker Suite" by Tchaikovsky. I have found Queen, Billy Joel,
and Elton John. That's it for modern music.

I would love to have some Bob Seger "Night Moves", "Against the Wind"
and others. Plus Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and "Open Arms".
Let's not forget the "Peanuts Theme Song". I figure I will have to
create these on my own.

That leads me to what I'm trying to figure out -- how to create these
pieces myself, since nobody is offering them. Luckily, I finally found
Scott Joplin rags on diskette. I thought I was going to have to create
some Scott Joplin myself.

Do you have any advice on how to create these pieces?

Regards,

Dan Wilbanks
