Restoring a Hardman Peck Welte-Mignon Piano
By Dave Allan

Last week I took ownership of this Hardman Peck Welte-Mignon piano.
I acquired it from the granddaughter of the original owner. Here is
what I found today. All the tubing is hard and brittle or missing,
and if you look closely you might notice that the tubing between the
drawer and stack seems to have melted!

I had planned to start with the piano on its legs; however, the legs
were attached only by screws and some screws were stripped -- it would
have been a little wobbly. There were also some loose glue joints.
I have not checked the pinblock for loose pins which could affect the
future of the piano.

I have never worked on a reproducer and hope someone out there will
have some suggestions.
