While I haven't had to follow up on modern cloths (mostly because
I refuse to use them!), I agree with Doug's posting, and yes, the
cloth from Player-Care (John Tuttle) is outstanding! Considering
the lack of commercial demand for rubberized cloth, and even though
it has become pretty expensive, we should be happy to get it now.
A few years ago I purchased some heavy cloth from "one of the usual
suspects" and found it to be porous after I glued up a few control
pneumatics. I made a test fixture to put the cloth under pressure
and sprayed some soapy water on it -- soap bubbles everywhere!
I sent a photo to the supplier and they were very thankful for my
documented complaint and set about making things right. They had
heard some complaints, but no one had documented theirs apparently,
so mine finally got the "ball rolling" I guess.
I am getting ready to purchase some more pumping bellows cloth so
I hope the problem is gone. I do suggest, however, that one check
their supplies before using. I made my test fixture with some wood
and PVC pipe fittings; crude but effective (and cheap!).
