Seek Piano Roll Videos To Make MIDI Files
By Piotr Barcz

Recently I've been searching for piano roll videos of rare and old
Ampico and Duo-Art piano rolls. I process those videos with the
PlaySK Roll Reader to produce pretty decent quality MIDI files but
lately there just has been a huge lack of piano roll videos on
YouTube that could be processed.

I'm on the hunt for all the rolls I can possibly read. I will then
publish them as Synthesia videos with direct MIDI download links to
each so that _anyone_ can access the rolls. There aren't enough MIDI
archives around that have MIDI files of Frank Milne rolls as they are
so rare most of them have been scanned by people who then sell them.

Eventually I hope to make one long catalog with all the links grouped
by brand and by number. I can't do this until I have enough files to
make the project worthwhile.

I now am asking anyone who has Frank Milne played dance medleys from
the 1930s if they could record the rolls as the late Randolph Herr
did in his videos. Here's one that is a great example of how the roll
should be framed: https://youtu.be/RsXdyzL711o

The better quality the video, the better of a MIDI file I can get.
It's preferable if there is even lighting on the roll and that the
video isn't too dark as the editing process could lose details.

Thank you everyone!
