Newly Arranged Wurlitzer APP 5-tune Rolls
By Glenn Thomas

Over the last five years, we produced five 20-roll projects of
recut Wurlitzer Automatic Player Piano (APP) 5-tune changer rolls.
All these projects sold out since the music was rare and sought-after
rolls from the 'teens, '20's and 30's, with superb production quality
from the perforators of Play-Rite Music. Now, thanks to many requests,
we are doing another 20-roll project, but this time, it's mostly newly
arranged music.

Many already know arrangers Andy Park and Mikey Mills. Both young
musicians have lots of experience arranging for all types of band
organs, European fairground organs, and coin pianos. Their talent is
sought by many to arrange commissioned new music and transcribe others
to different scales. They just keep getting better and their work is
superb. I have known and worked with both for about a decade. They
readily follow suggestions but use imagination and creativity for
musical excellence.

Andy Park will be mostly arranging rolls from popular hits of the
1950s, '60s, and '70s. But the musical style will be a cross between
their original hit and Wurlitzer's late '20s arranging style. The result
is a must-have group of delightful rolls you will play over and over.

Mikey Mills will be arranging two 'Broadway Rolls' and two 'Americana'
themed rolls. 'Broadway' will feature hits from golden age Broadway
shows like "The Music Man", "Cabaret", and the Rodgers and Hammerstein
catalog. 'Americana' may include tunes like, "Give My Regards to
Broadway", "By the Sea", "Hello Ma' Baby", "Bill Bailey Won't You Please
Come Home?" and doing it in that wonderful, syncopated '20s style!

Adam Swanson and Domingo Mancuello might be new to these types of rolls,
but certainly not to ragtime and period music. They are two of the
world's foremost performers of vintage American popular music, including
ragtime, early jazz, period music, and more. Sample tune labels are
shown here.

Between these four arrangers we expect to produce about 15 newly
arranged rolls. The balance of the project, about five additional rolls
will be traditional recuts of the finest rolls.

As in past projects, the rolls are sold by subscription. There will be
one 20-roll set. Only 14 sets will be available. The price for each set
of 20 is $1,775, plus $100 packaging and shipping = $1,875. To secure
a place in the queue, $500 is due now. The $1,375 balance is due prior
to shipping. We expect to ship by the end of November. Before then, you
will receive a final list of the rolls with tune lists and labels and an
invoice for the balance. Upon reviewing the final selections, you may
cancel and receive a full refund of your deposit. Send deposit via PayPal
to wurlitzer165@gmail.com, using "friends and family" option for no fees.

We also have a list of tunes that are potential prospects for the 50's
and 60's group. Contact me for those and more information at
