History of Wurlitzer 153 Band Organ "Merry Ann"
By Christian Tedesco

Happy summer everyone! I am on vacation in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Last night I happened to stumble into an arcade and in the back room
something caught my eye -- there was a Wurlitzer 153! I had expected
the organ to come from a nearby park that currently runs tapes and
displays a terrible "organ" on its massive two-deck carousel.

Upon talking with the owner, Randy Senna, I discovered the organ
was originally from 1927 and he purchased it from somebody located
in Maryland. Sadly I have yet to hear the organ, but supposedly it
does play.

The swell shades and snare drum are missing; the latter is still in
the building but has seen better days. According to Randy, the drums
are not working well, most likely because of an air leak.

From a basic Google search, I can't find a lot on this specific 153.
If anybody knows about it's history I'd love to be informed. I'll
attach some photos I took today to this post, and I shall make a
follow up if I can record it!

P.S. The organ is located in the Retro Arcade at 2900 Boardwalk,
if you wish to visit.

Best,
Christian Tedesco
