Future Carousel Home Used As Concert Venue
By Andrew Lardieri
Since the dismantling and pre-restoration of the 1910 Dentzel/Looff
carousel in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, its newly-built pavilion on
the boardwalks north end (now open to the public) is currently being
used as a venue for a potpourri of events like live concerts and dances,
just to say a few. While the carousel still awaits patiently in the
pole barn, part of its new home is already buzzing to the sounds of
"live music" -- and, no, it ain't from a band organ!
Hopefully by next year (as this "crisis" eventually lets up), I'll be
able to see the carousel and band organ fully restored to its original
splendor that sparked my deep love and passion for historic antique
carousels and all things mechanical music.
