Installing LED Light Strips On a Band Organ
By Ron Schmuck

Hello Everyone. I wanted to add lights to a new facade I designed
and just completed which looks like a Wurlitzer 153 on the bottom
and an Artizan C-2 on the top.

I didn't want to install the usual light bulbs, which sort of take
away from the carvings, and this facade has over 40 great carvings.
This facade is to go on a Mackinnon Bandola style 125 I own (Lance
Johnson Organ Co., 1972).

(If you're interested, the restoration of a Mackinnon style 125,
including MIDI system, and the new facade can be seen at
http://www.nickelodeonco.com/bandola-model-125-gw-mackinnon.html

I selected the new LED light strips made by Govee, model H6139. They
came highly recommended by the many folks on YouTube. The beauty of
these LED tapes is they have a sticky back and can be mounted on the
side of the carvings and still be very visible, and when not turned
on are almost invisible! They are also very economical, from either
Govee or Amazon.

This model comes with both a control box and a remote control and
two strings of 5 meters of LEDs. This system can do all of the usual
features, from a stationary light with hundreds of colors to choose
from or the moving and color changing effects and also a system so the
lights play along with the music going on and off and changing color
in time with the music, etc.

I think I will need two sets of the model H6139 to properly illuminate
this facade. I purchased 8 sets so I can also add to a Decap (Antwerp)
dance organ I am working on. Once the facade is completed I will make
a video and post on YouTube. Anyway, it's food for thought.

The LEDs are bright enough to be seen in normal lighting and are a
real knockout at night on the fairground.

All the very best,

Ron Schmuck
