Last Saturday I took a trip with my aunt down to Seaside Heights, New
Jersey, to see the construction for the new home for the Dr. Floyd
Moreland carousel, where I stumbled upon a new carousel that now will
be part of Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach.
The machine is a current 2-abreast fiberglass carousel manufactured by
Chance Rides, Inc. of Wichita, Kansas, which features molded replicas
of figures that were carved by the well-known carvers at the start of
the 20th century, e.g. Parker, Looff, Dentzel, Herschell, etc.
Unlike the 1910 Dentzel/Looff mixed machine that once operated in the
Casino Arcade, this new carousel is currently being assembled on the
actual pier itself.
