For sale, free: This family rescued this 1923 Cable piano from an
abandoned house. The piano is complete but in need of restoration.
It is about one note flat. It has some mice damage that might
require bass hammers, although they might clean up okay.
The roll air motor runs in reverse with just one pedal pumping, and
I measured it running at 10" of vacuum, but there are too many bad
leaks to check the stack for operation.
The piano case is ribbon grain mahogany that is crazed, but it will
turn out beautiful when refinished.
This is the Recordo "B" system, a very expressive "expression" player
mechanism. I _love_ mine! These pianos are not common but are very
well built. You can foot pump it, or let PG&E (or whomever sends
electricity to your home) do the pumping.
The piano is in the town of Willows, California, right off freeway I-5,
about an hour north of Sacramento, with easy access to the piano, and
a pretty fair Chinese restaurant nearby, too! The owners of this piano
gave me permission to publish their contact info: Karl Brummet,
tel.: 530-579-5773; he's usually at work during the day.
I'm happy to answer any questions. If I didn't already have five players
in the shop (and four players in the _small_ house!), I would jump on
it myself, but one can only do so much!
