The Mechanical Music Library, now located at the Morris Museum in
Morristown, New Jersey, has received an estate donation of a significant
library of Mechanical Music Instruments materials. Those items not
already in the 5,000-plus Library inventory have been removed and the
rest are for sale.
Included are 148 books, catalogs, and pamphlets including several of the
desirable and hard to find Chapuis books, and 203 Journals from five
collector organizations, with the most from the MBSI.
The lowest price per item found on the internet for most of the items
has been entered in an Excel spreadsheet table showing title, author,
and more information, and prices for the back issues of the journals have
come from trading mart prices.
The grand total is a replacement cost of $7,536 and this library is
available for the best offer approaching half of that replacement cost.
These funds will go to the Morris Museum to support Library activities.
This is a fine opportunity to acquire a significant library of mechanical
music materials at less than half the cost than if these items were
acquired one-at-a-time.
These items are located in Norwalk, Connecticut. They can be picked up or
they can be delivered anywhere between northern New Jersey and southern
Maine, probably without charge, or shipped in about ten cardboard boxes
by USPS Media Mail at a cost for postage in the vicinity of $200 to $250.
A complete inventory is available as an e-mail attachment or more
information is available from me.
