It is with great sadness that we have learned that our former board
member and honorary member, Hans van Oost, passed away on Wednesday,
March 31, at the age of 74. Hans was a board member of the Kring van
Draaiorgelvrienden [Circle of Crank-organ Friends] from 1993 to 2009.

Hans's preference was for the instruments of the great orchestrion and
organ builders from around the turn of the century. Gavioli and Ruth,
in particular, held his specific interest.

He collected a lot of data about the Gavioli factory, among other things,
and also wrote many articles for Het Pierement and the publications of
our sister associations. He also gained fame in international circles.

Hans built an orchestrion for himself based on the Ruth 39 scale so
that he could play his beloved music with it and in recent years he
owned an original Gavioliflüte barrel organ with which he performed at
several events.

A more extensive In Memoriam will be placed in Het Pierement.

We wish family and friends much strength.
