In reference to Robbie's comment in 210320 MMDigest about Amphion valve
blocks, he said that Amphion was owned by American Piano Company. I was
under the impression that Amphion was a stand-alone company, and only
_sold_ their products to piano manufacturers. Have I been wrong all
these years?
Burnley Cook
[ Mr. Lewis B. Doman organized the Amphion Player Piano Company of
[ Elbridge, New York, in 1896. In 1909 the company moved to larger
[ quarters in Syracuse, New York, where the manufacture of player
[ mechanisms for pianos began. Amphion began making Ampico systems
[ in 1918 and by the early 1920s was totally absorbed by American
[ Piano Company.
