For sale, free: a Boyd Pistonola in Palmers Green, N London. Pistonolas
are very rare. Their 11 compact 8-note units with needle and ball valves
and solid graphite note pistons are made in pressure-die-cast alloy,
much like carburettors. They were praised for being very responsive.
With careful fettling the effects of time and environment can be
reversed and these most interesting mechanisms brought back to life.
Boyd Pistonola overstrung underdamper pianos are good quality
instruments in early 1920s quarter-veneered Art Deco cases.
If this rare instrument isn't saved soon it will unfortunately go to
the tip. It would make a fascinating project for someone interested in
the player piano engineering. Please help save it! For contact details
please email me.
