I knew Ray Siou quite well. At first, he was a little 'cool' towards
me but after a few visits we became good friends. I said to Ray once,
"The paint is peeling off the large sign on your building." He replied,
"If it looks good, some people will know that there is something in
there to steal!"
I played one or two of the "O' rolls I made. He knew many in the roll
selling business, and he was the wholesaler. He liked cats as well.
I was there on one of the days that a small earthquake came about.
Just about 20 seconds before we witnessed the 'quake, his two cats did
a weird dance -- they could feel it before we did.
The merchant ship I was working on made many trips to San Francisco,
twice per month for two years. I had to get a small ferry to Ray's
place in Oakland.
