Hi John, Trying to repair or make free reeds for a reed organ is a
daunting task because of the precision required. I have read about
doing it and I even read Bruder's notes on how to do it, but I still
haven't actually made one. It's way more difficult than making
beating reeds.
However, there is a much simpler way to accomplish it. Many people who
deal with reed organs have a supply of old reeds from organs that have
moved to the big attic in the sky. In fact, I have a box of reeds that
must weigh 20 pounds. If you can't find someone in your area who has a
similar box in their shop, send me a note privately and I'll try to fix
you up with what you need.
