I mentioned in our fundraising drive at the end of the year that we were
working on migrating to a new server. This is a complicated process for
a number of technical reasons involving new versions of software,
improved security procedures in the new software that we have to accomodate,
etc, etc.
After extensive testing, I "pulled the switch" last night about 11pm PST.
The change goes into effect after varying amounts of time depending on how
your ISP looks up IP addresses. I expect that everyone will be connecting
to the new server within 48 hours.
During the transition, there may be outages and there's a possibility of
rejected or misdelivered inbound mail. I'll monitor inbound mail on both
the old and new servers in the hopes that nothing gets lost. I recommend
if you submit using the Contact form that you keep a copy of what you typed
in -- or better yet, fill the form in by copying from a document you prepared
in a text editor.
If you don't see something you submitted get published within a couple of
days, please resubmit it or contact us via e-mail and let us know that something's
up.
Once the transition is completed, I'll be able to roll out some new features.
For the first time, starting in about a week, we'll be able to handle
attachments to mail sent to the rolls-1701 email address. I am hoping to
improve the e-mail delivery reliability from the new server. More on that
later...
During the transition, thank you for your patience! --Jody
