Seek Timber for Lid of 1927 Steck Upright Duo-Art
By Andy Hood

Hi all, I have a 1927 Steck Upright Duo-Art which has a warped and
bowed lid. I plan to make a new lid (I am sure the original cannot
be flattened). It is an American made instrument, not European.

Does anyone know what type of timber would have been used originally?

I will then have to re-veneer the new lid -- which I am not looking
forward to! Once done I then have the task of restoring both piano
and player actions.

Thanks in advance.
