If you are a registered license holder of John Miller's Piano Roll
Box Label Maker Program, and you want to move it from Windows 7
to Windows 10, here is what I did successfully last year. I simply
used the original program disk to load the program onto my new
computer. It loaded okay, works okay, and prints okay for me without
modification. (The version I used was 8.01 dated 2010.)
Nevertheless, one year after Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7,
I have still mainly been using the Windows 7 computer, without issues.
Their lack of support is why I attempted to transfer the program to
Windows 10 last year.
You report that the program cannot be copied because of copyright
problems. I'm not a lawyer, but perhaps a patent attorney can research
the issue. If no one has come forward since John died in 2018, and
if there is no reply to published legal notices, it may be safe to
duplicate the program. I know that the program can be copied (not by
me).
In any event, it is truly a wonderful program that deserves to be saved
for future users. I never cease to be amazed at its versatility. It has
hundreds of potential labels. The user can add lines, change the size,
color, font, etc, etc.
