We recently issued our fifth set of Wurlitzer Automatic Player Piano
(APP) roll recuts, and the 40-roll subscription set quickly sold out.
Now, due to a cancellation, we again have an available set at the
original terms.
These are 40 of the best and rarest rolls. Most were in decent
condition for copying. Some needed minor surgery, and a couple needed
major surgery. About half had original roll or leader labels good
enough to copy. I made facsimile labels for those that didn't.
Previous projects have been popular sell-outs because we source the
music you want. Most rolls are either early rag, blues, or two-steps
in the 1-500 or so series, or fox trots from the late 1920s through
the '30s, with numbers from about 1800-1999 and 01 through 0325.
Here are some specifics on included rolls:
* Roll No. 1, with its original label! -- The very first APP roll
produced by DeKleist and Wurlitzer with rags and two-steps. Not
known until now.
* Eight rag and two-step rolls in the early number series referenced
above, mostly on very brittle red paper,
* 13 rolls in the rare 0200 and above number series. These were mostly
issued after the 1929 depression when Wurlitzer's production dropped
due to reduced demand.
Images of all 40 labels showing roll numbers and tune lists are
available on request.
The 40-roll set is $3,200 plus $150 shipping and packing in the US.
Rolls ship from Turlock, California.
Questions and discussion welcome.
