Verbeeck 125-key Concert Organs
By Tom Meijer

Johnny Verbeeck built only one 125-key concert organ. The construction
took the full year 1989. It was supplied to Willis Boyd early in 1990.
I am sure about this, as I have visited the Verbeeck workshop many
times (to supply music) and I was a witness when the 125-key organ
was built.

In an article that I wrote in 1990 about this 125-key organ, the
mentioned number of pipes is "around 1,300". This information came
from Johnny; perhaps his estimate was a bit too high (1,237 pipes
could be right). The two figures on either side of the façade are
holding musical instruments. The figure with the accordion was
installed originally, certainly not added later.

I don't have the COAA issue #32 from July 2007, but this must describe
a different organ. Johnny Verbeeck created one 115-key organ (1984) and
one 118-key organ (2002), which are impressive instruments as well.

The Verbeeck Company supplied a 125-key organ in the year 2000, but
this was an enlarged 98-key Gaudin organ, with an extension of the
original scale.

Glenn Thomas has a 112-key Verbeeck organ which was extended to 125
notes (registers and percussion) but these extra functions can only
be used with the MIDI control system.
