I can add a little to Jim Miller's most interesting post on the
above [201114 MMD], having visited Waddesdon Manor years ago.
(Waddesdon Manor is around 40 miles north west of London, and once
had its own station on the Metropolitan Railway).
Waddesdon is a magnificent French Renaissance-style mansion;
apparently Baron Rothschild had visited the Loire Valley in France
and liked the chateaux there so much he told his architect to
build him one in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Now, from where
could the late Jasper Sanfilippo have got his idea?!
