FS Free: Push-up Player for License Rolls
By David Sharpe
For sale, free: American-made Welte push-up player console, plays
Licensee and Poughkeepsie Welte rolls. I refinished it, recovered the
finger pneumatics, and replaced most of the tubing around 1960 without
touching the valves. It played beautifully for about 10 years and then
the valves started acting up. It has been in a dirty damp basement for
the last 20 years.
When I decided to sell it I uncovered it and found a thin coat of
mildew all over the outside. I am not sure how serious this is but
I wiped some off and decided to offer the vorsetzer to someone not
afraid of the mildew. The padded blanket covering it has marked the top
finish slightly. One of the valve connecting rods on the air motor is
broken.
This is an Original Welte-Built Welte-Mignon Console Player [push-up
player] with turbine pump. It requires pneumatics in the piano for the
sustain and soft pedals. I used it on an Ampico and tubed it to the
Ampico pedal pneumatics. These are not included. I can hear the motor
spinning when I turn it on but nothing pneumatic works. Photos
available.
Located in western Massachusetts. Email me if interested. It will take
two people to carry it out of the basement. Easy move through bulkhead
door. I could include a few rolls if desired.
