My rebuild of my Aeolian Grand organ is nearing completion. It plays
now, but requires furious pedaling. I'm busy chasing down leaks, bits
of sawdust under valves, pallet valves that only close 98% etc.
Because the operating pressure (vacuum in this case) is so low on this
machine every tiny bit counts, I've discovered that it is _way_ fussier
than rebuilding a player piano with its relatively high vacuum levels.
It seems to get tighter just with more playing as the leather settles
in, and various flaws certainly rise to the surface.
I've got multiple boxes of old rolls, but, although they are presently
intact, the paper is extremely fragile, sometimes fragmenting into
shards as it is unrolled at the very end. Quite suitable for scanning,
but not great for repeated plays.
Also the boxes are water damaged and moldy and aren't going to be
allowed into the house. (fortunately the water did not get to the rolls
themselves, the boxes served their protective service.
So, I'd like to find recut rolls to be able to play routinely on
this machine. I'd also be more than happy if someone wanted to scan
the rolls I currently have for a recutting project or MIDI conversion
(I don't currently plan to add MIDI to this machine).
