Durward Center, Baltimore, Maryland, band organ expert and
caretaker of the Wurlitzer 165 band organ in Glen Echo Park, Maryland,
sent me this information, with some beautiful pictures of the process
of re-installing the band organ, which had to be removed and put in
storage for a year while the National Park Service remodeled the Park's
carousel building, which is ninety-nine years old, as is the Dentzel
carousel which the organ accompanies with its wonderful music.
Durward reports: "The Glen Echo 165 is now safely back at home after
a year in storage. The new organ house was very nicely done, with most
of my suggestions followed. It always pleases me to see the care given
to the carousel and organ by the Park Service -- a rarity these days.
This was the third time we have moved the organ in the past 42 years!
There was a photographer at the Park yesterday documenting the process.

Durward sent a lot of photos. The first fifteen pictures are actually
markers for little videos, which will play on your computer if you click
on them.
